Test

Well it has even a while

We stumbled upon some old blog posts that we printed yesterday and K was interested in our blogspot.  Maybe she'll post some stuff later.

Another one bites the dust

While K was doing some evasive flips to dodge flying nerf darts, she flips and the chest protector/target rides up and knocks out her tooth.

ALL-STAR Baseball

Well, deja vu from last year. We began the tournament and two games later we're at home, wondering what we are going to do over the weekend.
First game against Oak Mt was good hard fought game where we came up a little short losing
8-4. W got a nice out by faking a throw to 1st and then running the guy on 2nd down and tagging him out.
Since we lost the first game, we fell to the loser's bracket and drew Alabaster. We had beaten them earlier in pool play, so we knew that we could win. For some reason we could not do anything right. It started off with the first hit to 2nd and the easy out at 1st sailed over his head. Later an easy pitch and catch at 3rd went un-caught and a throw in from RF hit the 1st baseman in the back.
So W still has not won more than 2 games in All-Stars. We may try our hand at some travel ball later this summer.

2010 ALL STAR BASEBALL

Well the regular season left us with a bad taste in our mouths, as W went undefeated until the last two games. His record was 14-2. Losing the last two games was tough, since the previous two years he had not lost a game. We got in a quick week at the beach and then headed back for All-Star practice. This year the tournament is hosted by Homewood.

Our first game against Alabaster was a doozy. After 6 hard fought innings we found ourselves behind by 4. We had a bottom of the 6th rally to score 7 runs to win the game. Our second game against Vestavia was another close game. We battled back to be ahead by 1 going into the last inning. Vestavia pulled out all the stops and we couldn't stop anything as we watched them rack up 6 runs. We lost 14-9. The next game was the second of a double header in which we played Homewood. We recovered and won 14-1.

We were slated in the 3 position and on Sunday found ourselves playing Hoover East for either the 5 or 6 seed position. After the first inning and spotting Hoover10 runs, we just could not come back. So our record so far is 2-3.

So now we are scheduled to play #3 seed Oak Mountain in the first game of the tournament.

If we get at least one more win we will have improved our All-Star record each year.

Its a Boy!

Last Monday we found out that we are having another boy. Both W and K were excited to see the sonagram and the little guy. Everything looks good at 20 weeks. So far Mom is doing well, just swelling by the week.

Baseball
W's team is 10-0 this year. His coach has done a great job working with all the kids, improving their play. W is having a good time playing short stop and pitcher. Last game the coach moved the kids around to different positions and W got to play 1st base (he has always liked playing 1st).

We got a new roller ice chest, which has saved K a lot of money from the concession stand. She still gets a ring pop now and again, but we've been able to keep her from buying drinks and cheese fries by bringing our own snacks. Of course I've always have been a sucker for some good nachos.

6 more games this season, then All-Stars. This summer we may give W the chance to play a summer league of travel ball. He has always liked the fact of being able to travel to someone else's field to play baseball.

Gymnastics
K is loving gymnastics these days. She is learning so much and gaining confidence every time she goes. K's favorite is the balance "bean", which she found out this week that it is beam, when that was one of her spelling words. Of course the best thing about gymnastics is she can talk. Ballet was a little too quiet for our little talker.

Baseball, Baseball, Baseball

So far this season the Braves are undefeated, 5-0! The team is really coming together, playing as a team and having a lot of fun. With two games a week, K gets ample concession stand nachos and candy. So far her piggy bank is holding up to the weekly spending spree.

W just can't get enough Baseball. This year his grandmother gave him some tickets to the local AA baseball team.

At our first game we were winners of a promotion - who can be the loudest - for a free pizza. The girl started out on the dugout holding the pizza up over her head and walked up past the box seats and up another set of steps about 6-7 rows up. I'm not sure how we won, I didn't even stand up to yell. W and W's friend must have yelled loud or looked like they were pretty hungry. It's the first thing we have ever won at a ballgame.

See you at the ball field!
