ALL-STAR Baseball

Well, deja vu from last year. We began the tournament and two games later we're at home, wondering what we are going to do over the weekend.
First game against Oak Mt was good hard fought game where we came up a little short losing
8-4. W got a nice out by faking a throw to 1st and then running the guy on 2nd down and tagging him out.
Since we lost the first game, we fell to the loser's bracket and drew Alabaster. We had beaten them earlier in pool play, so we knew that we could win. For some reason we could not do anything right. It started off with the first hit to 2nd and the easy out at 1st sailed over his head. Later an easy pitch and catch at 3rd went un-caught and a throw in from RF hit the 1st baseman in the back.
So W still has not won more than 2 games in All-Stars. We may try our hand at some travel ball later this summer.

2010 ALL STAR BASEBALL

Well the regular season left us with a bad taste in our mouths, as W went undefeated until the last two games. His record was 14-2. Losing the last two games was tough, since the previous two years he had not lost a game. We got in a quick week at the beach and then headed back for All-Star practice. This year the tournament is hosted by Homewood.

Our first game against Alabaster was a doozy. After 6 hard fought innings we found ourselves behind by 4. We had a bottom of the 6th rally to score 7 runs to win the game. Our second game against Vestavia was another close game. We battled back to be ahead by 1 going into the last inning. Vestavia pulled out all the stops and we couldn't stop anything as we watched them rack up 6 runs. We lost 14-9. The next game was the second of a double header in which we played Homewood. We recovered and won 14-1.

We were slated in the 3 position and on Sunday found ourselves playing Hoover East for either the 5 or 6 seed position. After the first inning and spotting Hoover10 runs, we just could not come back. So our record so far is 2-3.

So now we are scheduled to play #3 seed Oak Mountain in the first game of the tournament.

If we get at least one more win we will have improved our All-Star record each year.
